IWG monthly update : January openings and pipeline for the first quarter of 2020

Businesses can take advantage of IWG sites opening around the world this January

If last year saw impressive growth across IWG’s flexible workspace portfolio, this year already shows no signs of slowing down.

The global workspace-provider opened a remarkable 315 new properties in 52 cities in 2019, a rate not far short of one a day, across IWG’s nine distinct brands across Europe, North America and Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific. So far this year the mix is just as diverse and the growth just as impressive, with rapid expansion seeing the number of new offices more than treble between January and February, and almost double between February and March. There were six new openings by IWG in January, including four Regus sites and two Spaces offices, providing a wealth of options in terms of both location and business offering.

Barranquilla, Green Towers, is Regus’s new site in Columbia. A stunning edifice with a glass façade, it provides amazing sights from the 10th floor that stretch from a panoramic view of the city itself to the sapphire-blue waters of the Caribbean. As Columbia’s main port, the city is known as the country’s “golden gate” due to its modern vibe and industrial heritage. And like the country itself, the area is bursting with Latin flavour, featuring a UNESCO-recognised carnival; the Karl C Parish Park and Modern Art Museum are also major draws.

To the US and Miami, where the newly renovated Spaces site at Lincoln Road is proving something pretty special: with a location on a palm tree-lined avenue in the Miami Beach area that’s straight out of the movies, its dynamism and creative spirit make it ideal for entrepreneurs and startups. More than just a flexible working environment, it’s a place to come together and build a thriving community – and where better to do that than in a building with a floor-to-ceiling glass façade? Local highlights feature the retro Colony theatre and Miami Beach Botanical Garden, perfect for relaxing after a busy business meeting.

If Spaces is all about modern creativity and entrepreneurship, what better place to establish a new flagship site than in the forward-thinking city of Toronto? Another exciting part of IWG’s expansion in 2020, Spaces Gladstone is located in the city’s Little Portugal neighbourhood and features a unique community courtyard as a place for gatherings and outdoor lunches. Travel is a breeze, thanks to the Dufferin Street at Alma Avenue bus stop just a short distance away, and the closest light rail station is close by too.

In Europe, where other than the home of fashion would you expect to find Regus’s trendsetting flexible office expansion heading to next? Milan, however, is about more than just the fashion industry: long established as the industrial and business heartland of Italy, Regus’s new site on via Giorgio Washington combines both flair and dynamism in equal measure. For anyone wanting to embrace the flexible workspace trend, it’s ideally placed close to the commercial area of Corso Vercelli, the city centre, the Fiera Milano City exhibition centre, and the CityLife business and shopping district. And for total convenience, the local transport connections take you right onto the motorway and ring-road system for Malpensa Airport.

Successful business is all about building bridges, and that’s just what you’ll find in another of Regus’s new locations in Malmo, Sweden. Based at the 29-storey landmark Hyllie Stationstorg building, it provides a stunning view over the city and that iconic bridge to Denmark. Plus, getting around is simple with the station right on the doorstep.

And finally: do you fancy relaxing in a rooftop pool and taking in some stunning views that stretch all the way to Amsterdam? If so, then look no further than Regus’s new site at Almere Station in the Netherlands. Set across five stylish floors, it features a rooftop terrace with a pool and a striking glass frontage that gives the building a modern edge bound to impress clients. For those that don’t want the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam but want to be only 15 minutes away, it’s the perfect choice.

Looking ahead, there are more exciting launches on the horizon: February will see several new openings, including new Regus sites in Vienna’s Icon Tower and Budapest’s Budapest One centre, and Spaces opening its doors in Hong Kong’s AXA Southside building and Vaskerelven in Bergen. In March we expect new sites for Spaces in Vienna Central Station and Riparian Plaza in Brisbane and new Regus sites will include Ask Plaza in Baku and Rabat Annakhil in Morocco, amongst others.
