Regus opens its first ever franchise location in North London

Regus is set to open its first ever franchise location, in north London, in a bid to meet the growing demand for flexible workspace

Global workspace provider Regus is set to open its first ever franchised centre in Southgate, north London, in partnership with SME Properties Ltd.

Regus The Grange, Southgate is in a refurbished brick-and-glass five-storey building in a prime high street location, with shops, restaurants and bars directly on the doorstep, plus secure onsite parking and 24-hour access.

The fifth-floor office space offers light-filled, contemporary coworking areas and offices of varying sizes, as well as phone alcoves, meeting booths and a business lounge, giving members the opportunity to network with like-minded professionals. Super-fast Wi-Fi and friendly, efficient staff come as standard

The buzzing suburb of Southgate offers a wealth of amenities and attractions, including Grovelands and Brunswick Parks, along with several gyms and sports clubs for members to stay active. With Piccadilly Circus half an hour away by tube, the new space is also ideally located for client meetings and catch-ups.

“We are delighted to be opening our first Franchise centre in partnership with SME Properties Ltd,” says Julian Chambers, Head of IWG's UK Franchise division. “This new centre will offer something fresh for Southgate’s growing community of local businesses, whilst being in the perfect location to attract companies from further afield.”

Richard Morris, UK CEO of Regus, agrees: “We’re thrilled to announce Regus’ newest opening in Southgate and we’re looking forward to seeing the benefits our partnership with SME Properties Ltd will bring to businesses in the local area.”

The Grange, Southgate is the first franchise centre for Regus in the UK, and will be closely followed by the opening of a workspace in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, in partnership with franchisee ACCA Office Ltd, a partnership that will see ten new locations open over four years.

The move towards franchising is a new approach for Regus. With an ever-expanding workforce looking for more diverse, dynamic environments and a growing number of entrepreneurs, start-ups and SMEs eschewing expensive long-term office leases, the demand for flexible workspace has grown exponentially.

To capitalise on this opportunity, Regus has entered the UK franchise market, which will enable the company to further develop its extensive network of office, coworking and meeting spaces in new towns and cities across the UK, at a greater pace

In turn, franchisees will benefit from Regus’ 30-year experience in the UK, alongside its market awareness, operational know-how and customer understanding. Regus will work alongside franchisees, offering support on everything from layout and space design, installationmarketing and training. And, with such a proven operating model, franchisees can expect an attractive ROI too.

Regus has currently partnered with six franchisees in the UK, this will result in the opening of 50 new locations over the next three years. The opening of its first two franchise operations in Southgate and Huntingdon, with SME Properties Ltd and ACCA Office Ltd respectively, marks an exciting new chapter for the brand.

“We’re delighted to see Regus’ partnership with ACCA Office Ltd and SME Properties Ltd take off. Projections show that 30% of corporate real estate could be flexible workspace by 2030, up from 2% today,” says Chambers. “This makes the flexible office market a very exciting franchise opportunity; partnering with Regus gives business owners an opportunity to participate in the growth story and take advantage of this increasing demand.”
